AppLovin guided third-quarter revenue to $2.07 billion at the midpoint, implying 7.8% sequential growth as growth reaccelerates after a mixed second quarter.
"Our pace of meaningful model improvement was lighter than normal during the quarter and the next step-up in model performance landed just after quarter end," Chief Executive Officer Adam Foroughi said.
The mobile ad-tech company reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $3.76 per share, beating the $3.72 consensus by 1.08% and up 66.4% from a year earlier. Revenue reached $1.92 billion, up 52.4% year over year but missing estimates by 0.75%. Adjusted EBITDA rose 58% to $1.61 billion, a margin of 83.9% of revenue.
Shares have fallen about 17% since the Aug. 5 release and trade near the 52-week low of $318.12, down 52.7% year to date. The Q3 outlook, which embeds model improvements already deployed, projects adjusted EBITDA of $1.725 billion at the midpoint, a 7.1% sequential gain.
The company generated $863 million of free cash flow in the quarter, about 44.9% of revenue, and ended with $3.05 billion in cash against $3.7 billion of debt, or net debt of roughly 0.1 times trailing adjusted EBITDA. It repurchased about 1.14 million shares for $551 million, leaving roughly $1.8 billion of authorization. Chief Financial Officer Matt Stumpf confirmed the Q3 revenue range of $2.055 billion to $2.085 billion.
Consumer advertiser spending reached a record, running 28% above fourth-quarter 2025 levels, though the vertical has not yet scaled enough to offset slower gaming-model gains. The public launch of AppLovin Ads Manager targets mid-market self-serve advertisers, extending the pool beyond mobile gaming. Creative production for longer-form video remains a bottleneck, and lead generation and connected TV are earlier-stage.
The Q3 margin guide of about 83% reflects higher spending on AI computing capacity for training and inference. The Trade Desk and Unity Software offer reference points for the ad-tech and mobile-app sectors, though AppLovin's 83.9% adjusted EBITDA margin and 52.4% revenue growth distinguish its financial profile.
The outlook embeds management's expectation that AI-driven demand accelerates after a quarter of uneven model improvement. Investors will watch whether third-quarter results confirm the reacceleration and whether consumer advertiser spend broadens beyond a concentrated group of contributors.
