Cardano's Update Constitutional Committee 2026 governance action expires September 1 at 21:44:51 UTC, with stake pool operator participation at 39 percent against a required 51 percent threshold.
"48 hours to vote: The Update CC 2026 action will expire on Sep 1 at 21:44:51 UTC," Intersect, the Cardano member organization, said in a post on X, urging Delegated Representatives and stake pool operators to cast ballots before the proposal lapses.
Delegated Representatives have nearly cleared their bar, with participation at 66.3 percent against the 67 percent required. Stake pool operators remain further behind, and Intersect warned that a failed action would let existing Constitutional Committee members' terms expire, shrinking the committee below Cardano's required minimum of five.
That outcome would block ratification of Treasury Withdrawals, Parameter Updates, Constitution Updates and Hard Fork Initiations until the committee is restored — a constraint that could delay the Dijkstra hard fork and the Leios upgrade, both of which require constitutional and technical changes.
The Dijkstra era, Cardano's next major protocol development, is planned in two stages. Phase 1 introduces the Dijkstra ledger era with Ouroboros Linear Leios activated as a full feature, targeting the fourth quarter of 2026. Phase 2 activates Ouroboros Peras through an intra-era hard fork.
Separately, Cardano has expanded its real-world use cases by becoming the public proof layer for Blockforce's traceability platform, which works with some of Brazil's largest fashion groups and has anchored more than 500,000 supply chain records. The architecture keeps sensitive supply chain data on a permissioned network while anchoring cryptographic proofs to Cardano, letting auditors, regulators and customers verify record authenticity without accessing confidential underlying data.
The vote outcome carries direct implications for ADA holders. A failure to reach the SPO threshold would point to weak governance participation across the ecosystem and push the Dijkstra timeline into question, weighing on the token as the network's next upgrade cycle stalls. A successful vote, by contrast, clears the constitutional path for the Q4 2026 hard fork.
