Dogecoin rose 4.87% to $0.0902 in 24 hours as forced liquidations of leveraged short positions pushed the token toward the $0.10 psychological barrier.
Open interest in DOGE derivatives climbed 8.5% within one hour to $282 million, CoinMarketCap data shows, as bearish traders were compelled to close positions by buying the token. The squeeze left Dogecoin sharply outperforming Bitcoin, which gained 0.38%, and the broader crypto market, up 0.87%, over the same stretch.
The move extended a recovery that began when DOGE bottomed near $0.08 on Sept. 2. An earlier attempt to clear the daily 200-day moving average on Sept. 3 failed, but Saturday's momentum carried price decisively above that level to a session high of $0.095. Technical signals reinforced the advance: DOGE printed a golden cross on its hourly chart and a morning doji star on the daily, a pattern often seen at the end of downtrends.
Analyst Alex Marzell tracked the breakout on X, noting DOGE held around $0.083 across six flat four-hour candles before a single candle ripped from roughly $0.0876 to $0.0952. He flagged $0.088 as former resistance that has flipped to potential support. Holding that level would preserve the bullish structure; a failure opens downside toward $0.0813 and then $0.075.
Crypto analyst Ali Martinez pointed to whale accumulation reinforcing the $0.0813 on-chain support floor, where nearly 35 billion DOGE previously traded, according to his analysis. He identified a bullish flag pattern on lower timeframes projecting a move toward $0.12, with longer-term targets at $0.1552 and $0.1774 if momentum accelerates.
The $0.10 mark remains the immediate hurdle. A mid-August rally stalled around that level before sellers regained control, and DOGE has since pulled back to about $0.088 as it tries to hold above the 200-day moving average. The next scheduled catalyst is the U.S. Consumer Price Index report on Sept. 11, which could set the tone for risk assets including the meme coin.
Beyond price action, community observers pointed to ecosystem developments that could support demand. X user Sweep cited DogeOS, an EVM-compatible application layer that would use DOGE for gas fees, the DOGE-1 satellite launch targeted this month, DOGE payments across more than 6,000 merchants, and the planned DOGE Pay rollout. August marked Dogecoin's strongest monthly performance of 2026, according to the supplied data.
Whether DOGE can defend $0.088 and convert its short-squeeze rally into a sustained breakout above $0.10 will determine the near-term direction, with the CPI print on Sept. 11 as the next potential trigger.
