MEXC is opening its 7,000-stock US equity catalog to algorithmic traders through a new API settled in USDT.
MEXC released an API on Aug. 24 that lets quantitative traders automate US equity strategies settled in USDT, covering more than 7,000 stocks and ETFs. The tool plugs into RealStocks, the exchange's direct-equity product launched in July, and routes orders through Atomic Vaults Securities (AVS), a regulated broker.
"The RealStocks API allows users to automate their RealStocks trades and implement customized trading strategies programmatically," MEXC said in a statement, adding the tool targets quantitative traders seeking to build and execute trading logic tailored to their own strategies.
RealStocks has drawn more than 120,000 accounts in its first month, MEXC reported. The exchange charges no commission on the product, though SEC transaction fees, FINRA activity fees, and clearing and exchange costs still apply. Holders receive full shareholding rights and dividend entitlements, with trades executed through AVS rather than a tokenized wrapper.
A TradeFi Stack Takes Shape
The API is the latest piece of MEXC's TradeFi suite, which already includes Stock Futures, tokenized shares, and Pre-IPO access. Earlier this month the exchange upgraded RealStocks with long-term investing support and improved market access, signaling an effort to court both retail and institutional flows.
The move puts MEXC, which says it serves more than 40 million users across 170-plus markets, in direct competition with traditional brokers and multi-asset platforms chasing the same quant segment. The USDT settlement angle is the differentiator: traders can run equity strategies without converting back to fiat at each step, a workflow that appeals to crypto-native funds already embedded in stablecoin rails.
What to Watch
MEXC's 0808: Stock Season campaign, currently running, offers 0-fee trading on RealStocks and other stock products with a $500,000 prize pool, a test of whether the API can convert promotional interest into sustained algorithmic volume. Quant traders will be watching uptime, spreads, and data-feed reliability — the metrics that decide whether a crypto exchange can hold its own against Interactive Brokers and Bloomberg-terminal workflows.
