Monero climbed 10% over the past seven days, making it one of the best-performing large-cap cryptocurrencies as traders rotate into privacy-focused assets.

Monero rose 10% during the week ending July 25, building one of the strongest recoveries among major cryptocurrencies as traders rotated into privacy-focused assets.
"Monero is benefiting from a rotation out of AI-themed tokens as traders look for assets with independent price action," said Jason Wu, on-chain analyst at Edgen. "The improving chart structure suggests momentum is building rather than fading."
The rally pushed XMR toward its next major resistance zone, a level traders have been watching since the token broke out of a multi-week consolidation range. Trading volumes increased during the move, supporting the breakout's validity. The broader cryptocurrency market showed mixed performance, with Bitcoin trading near $64,000 and most altcoins posting modest gains.
A sustained break above the current resistance zone could open the path toward higher levels and potentially reignite the privacy coin narrative across the broader market. The move comes as traders increasingly differentiate between AI-linked tokens and assets with independent use cases, with Monero's privacy-focused architecture providing a distinct value proposition.
The rally was accompanied by an increase in on-chain activity, with transaction volumes and active addresses rising alongside the price. This combination of price and network activity strengthening together typically signals organic demand rather than speculative positioning. Monero's privacy features — ring signatures, stealth addresses and confidential transactions — have kept it relevant as a payments-focused cryptocurrency even as regulatory scrutiny of privacy tools has intensified in some jurisdictions.
Other privacy-focused tokens also gained during the week, though none matched Monero's magnitude. The sector-wide move suggests a broader reassessment of privacy coins, which have largely underperformed the market since the start of the year. Monero's market capitalization now ranks it among the top 30 cryptocurrencies, reflecting its position as the dominant privacy-focused blockchain by usage and network effects.
The next major resistance level represents a key test for the rally. A clean break above it would confirm the bullish structure and could attract additional momentum traders. On the downside, the breakout level from the prior consolidation range now serves as support. Monero's ability to attract flows while other tokens stagnate suggests the privacy narrative may be gaining renewed attention.
