TRON activated Proposal 107 on Aug. 28, adding Ethereum's Prague and Osaka features to its virtual machine after 25 Super Representative approvals.
The upgrade, delivered through the GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 release known as Pyrrho, lets smart contracts query historical block hashes, adds the CLZ opcode, and natively supports secp256r1 signature verification for Passkey authentication, according to TRON DAO.
TRX traded at $0.3427 as voting opened Aug. 25, giving the token a market capitalization of $32.5 billion and 24-hour volume of $449.7 million, CoinGecko data shows. The token gained more than 3 percent over the past week and remains about 20 percent below its all-time high of $0.4313. USDT supply on TRON rose $1.1 billion over the past 30 days, the fastest growth among tracked networks, per Token Terminal data cited by TRON DAO.
The activation lowers the cost of moving Ethereum-built applications onto TRON, a network that reports 400 million accounts. Wallet developers can now verify signatures from Apple Secure Enclave and Android Keystore without custom workarounds, though the extent of MODEXP energy savings will depend on how individual contracts are compiled.
The features mirror upgrades Ethereum shipped in its own Prague and Osaka hard forks, narrowing the gap between the two execution environments. Tools and smart contracts written for Ethereum can be adapted to TRON with fewer modifications, a draw for teams already building on the larger ecosystem. TRON's committee, made up of 27 elected Super Representatives, approved the proposal with 25 votes before the Aug. 28 effective date at 14:00 SGT.
Passkey support is the most visible change for end users. Instead of remembering passwords, people can sign in to TRON applications using fingerprints, face scans, or device PINs, with verification handled through the same standards behind Apple Secure Enclave and Android Keystore. The upgrade provides the underlying protocol support; wallet and application developers must still decide how to use it.
For TRX holders, the next checkpoint is whether network activity follows the technical upgrade. TRON's stablecoin growth — USDT supply up $1.1 billion in 30 days — and its 400 million account base provide the usage backdrop, but the token's price still tracks broader crypto conditions. On the four-hour chart, TRX sits at $0.34 inside the Bollinger Bands with a bullish MACD golden cross and RSI at 54.45, blockchain.news data shows, leaving room for continuation rather than immediate exhaustion.
