HashKey Exchange has introduced a Marketplace feature, offering institutional clients real-time quote comparisons and settlement options.

HashKey Exchange Launches Marketplace for Institutional Crypto Trading

HashKey Exchange, Hong Kong's largest licensed virtual asset exchange, has launched a Marketplace feature, allowing institutional and high-net-worth clients to compare quotes from multiple liquidity providers in real-time with immediate settlement options.

The Marketplace Feature

The Marketplace feature is designed for Over-the-Counter (OTC) trading, enabling real-time comparison of quotes from various liquidity providers. This functionality targets institutional investors, asset management firms, family offices, and high-net-worth clients. The platform provides full transparency, assisting clients in securing lower prices and monitoring order progress. Currently, the Marketplace includes quotes from four active liquidity providers, with transaction sizes ranging from $10 to $10 million.

Market Implications and Strategic Positioning

The introduction of the Marketplace may lead to increased institutional participation, greater liquidity, and improved price discovery within the virtual asset market. This initiative could solidify Hong Kong's position as a leading hub for regulated crypto activity. The move aligns with HashKey's broader strategy to expand its global footprint, highlighted by the rebranding of its OTC platform to 'HashKey OTC Global' and its licensing achievements in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and the Middle East.

HashKey's launch of the Marketplace mirrors trends observed in traditional finance, where institutional investors benefit from transparent, real-time price discovery across multiple liquidity pools. Unlike retail-focused exchanges, this platform directly addresses the needs of larger players, facilitating efficient and discreet transactions. According to CoinGecko's Q1 2025 report, centralized exchanges rely on professional crypto market makers to provide liquidity, capturing over 80% of spot trading volume.

Broader Context and Technological Advantages

The launch coincides with increasing institutional trading activity in OTC markets, driven by the need for privacy, reduced slippage, and regulatory compliance. Real-time settlement systems, facilitated by blockchain technology, are transforming cross-border payments by minimizing reliance on intermediaries and optimizing money movement. Platforms such as RippleNet and Stellar are being adopted for faster international money transfers, offering benefits such as 24/7 settlement, real-time tracking, and cost predictability. MEXC Exchange demonstrates the importance of low execution costs and high liquidity, with research indicating it beats Binance, OKX, and Bybit on transparent trading costs.

HashKey received approval from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) on April 10, 2025, to offer staking services, becoming one of the first exchanges in HK to be allowed to provide such services. The approval means the exchange may provide “ETH staking services for spot ETFs”.
