AAVE rose 7.9% to $96 on July 21 after Aave V4 deposits crossed $300 million, with developer activity accelerating through July.
"AAVE's rally is supported by real protocol growth — V4 deposits, developer counts, and active users are all moving in the right direction," Jason Wu, DeFi analyst at Edgen, said.
Core Developer Count tracking unique contributors to Aave's GitHub repositories rose to 15 in July from 10.42 in May, according to TokenLogic. Commit activity, a measure of weekly code submissions, also strengthened over the same period. Aave V4 active users continued trending higher, while the protocol maintained revenue generation despite a broader crypto market slowdown in 2026 compared with Q4 2025.
The next major test sits between the 200-day exponential moving average near $112 and horizontal resistance around $120. A breakout above that zone could open the path toward the $400 peak reached in December 2024, while failure to clear it would leave the recovery as another bounce within a cautious market.
Developer Activity Picks Up as V4 Gains Traction
The TokenLogic dashboard shows Aave's development capacity expanding even as the broader market lost momentum during the first half of 2026. Core Developer Count, which measures unique contributors actively committing code over a rolling window, climbed 44% from May to July. Commit Activity, another TokenLogic metric tracking weekly GitHub code submissions, recorded higher output in recent weeks, reflecting engineering work tied to protocol upgrades and governance preparation.
Aave V4 active users remain on an upward trajectory, suggesting growing participation across the protocol. Revenue generation has continued despite weaker market conditions compared with late 2025, when Aave delivered its strongest quarterly earnings. The protocol has sustained income from borrowing fees, trading activity, and partner revenue-sharing programs.
Technical Setup Points to $112 Resistance
Since early June, AAVE has recovered from the $60 demand zone — the same level that fueled a rally from September 2023 to the $400 peak in December 2024. The token now trades above its 20-day moving average at $92.26 and 50-day moving average at $90.66, according to CoinGecko. The relative strength index sits at 65.94, with the MACD and average directional index both flashing buy signals.
A $190 million USDC whale deposit on July 19 added further liquidity to Aave's lending pools, according to Interactivecrypto. The protocol's adoption of Chainlink CCIP as the default standard for cross-chain sGHO transfers, reported by Bitrss, also strengthened its infrastructure narrative.
