BNB Chain is building a new Layer 1 blockchain dedicated to agentic trading, targeting sub-50-millisecond transaction preconfirmation and removing the public mempool, with a testnet planned by end-2026 and mainnet in early 2027.
"The chain will approach the execution experience of a centralized exchange while preserving self-custody and transparency," David Z, chief technology officer at BNB Chain, said. "For co-located HFT, a CEX still wins today. For everyone else, this is the CEX experience without the custodial risk."
The proposed architecture eliminates the public mempool through TxStream, routing transactions directly to the block leader to cut latency and prevent sandwich attacks. Leaders rotate every 200 milliseconds, too fast for any validator to build a business on the position, Z said. A second component, PriorityLane, reserves block space for oracles, liquidations and bridges, governed onchain. The chain targets throughput above 100,000 transactions per second through co-optimized consensus, parallel execution and LtHash-based storage, alongside sub-one-second block finality.
Z identified the performance gap in the execution layer rather than in consensus or storage. "EVM chains do a huge amount of repeated work because the same popular contracts run millions of times," he said, pointing to just-in-time compilation and strength reduction as the core optimizations. The new chain will sit alongside the existing BNB Chain stack, becoming the fourth chain alongside BNB Smart Chain, opBNB and Greenfield. An official native bridge to BSC is planned, with BSC serving as the settlement hub and BNB as the unified asset. "The goal is growing the total BNB Chain pie, not re-slicing it," Z said.
The roadmap arrives as projects including Solana's Firedancer, Monad and MegaETH race to break execution-layer bottlenecks. BNB Chain is separately testing quantum-resistant security using a hybrid approach that layers post-quantum protection over existing cryptography. The team is researching how account abstraction could let users adopt quantum-safe protection without changing wallet addresses. "Nobody in the industry has a complete quantum migration scheme yet, including us," Z said, calling harvest-now-decrypt-later a genuinely open problem for the whole industry.
In H1 2026, BNB Smart Chain cut block intervals to 450 milliseconds and nearly doubled benchmark throughput to about 5,200 transactions per second. The new agentic trading chain represents BNB Chain's bet that dedicated execution infrastructure will attract developers building automated trading strategies, a niche that has grown alongside the rise of AI agents in crypto.
