XRP's 40 percent weekly surge has traders debating whether the token can reach $10.

XRP climbed 40 percent to $1.40 in five days, with market commentator crypto Patel calling a $10 target "not crazy" given the token's history of improbable rallies.
"XRP has a history of moves that looked impossible before they happened," crypto Patel, a market commentator, said on X.
The rally follows renewed regulatory optimism after President Trump urged Congress to pass the Clarity Act on Aug. 20 in the presence of Ripple's CEO, a move that could clear the path for a U.S. XRP ETF. Whales holding 1 million to 10 million XRP bought roughly 380 million tokens, about $400 million, in the week leading up to the surge, while Binance open interest hit a two-month high.
XRP now faces resistance at $1.42, with a break above opening the way toward $1.51. Support sits at $1.26, and losing $1.22 could push the token toward $1.08, according to levels cited by traders.
Goldman Sachs, which oversees more than $4 trillion in assets, returned as the largest institutional holder of XRP ETFs in its Q2 2026 filing, reporting $86.5 million spread across five funds. The bank's positions include $25.76 million in the Bitwise XRP ETF, $25.41 million in the Franklin XRP Trust, $19.49 million in the Canary XRP ETF, $8.21 million in the 21Shares XRP ETF and $7.66 million in the Grayscale XRP Trust. Goldman had reported no XRP ETF holdings in its prior filing after exiting a $153 million position.
U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded $13.24 million in net inflows on Aug. 20, according to SoSoValue data. Trading volume rose 116.85 percent to more than $10.2 billion, while XRP's relative strength index sits near 65, showing momentum without deeply overbought conditions.
The rally also drew support from a new partnership involving Ripple, Clearpool and Cicada Credit to build an institutional lending platform on the XRP Ledger, targeting the $10 billion-plus private credit market.
For XRP to reach $10, the token would need to more than sevenfold from current levels, a move that would require sustained institutional inflows and a favorable regulatory outcome. The token's all-time high of $3.84 was set in January 2018, and it has traded below $2 for most of the past eight years. The $10 debate hinges on whether the Clarity Act passes and whether ETF flows accelerate enough to absorb the token's large circulating supply.
The combination of a regulatory push, confirmed whale accumulation and fresh institutional ETF exposure has propelled XRP to its strongest week in months. If the Clarity Act clears Congress and ETF inflows persist, the $10 debate could shift from speculation to a question of timing. A failure to hold $1.26, however, would likely reset the narrative and pull the token back toward $1.08.
