The XRP Ledger has recorded over 1 million commercial transactions executed by artificial intelligence agents, marking a milestone in machine-to-machine payments.
The XRP Ledger surpassed 1 million commercial transactions executed by artificial intelligence agents via the x402 protocol, on-chain data shows.
"Development was slow, and then it happened all at once," Chandler Feng, co-founder of t54, said.
The network recorded 121 active merchants, with three infrastructure players accounting for more than 77 percent of the volume. Heurist Mesh, a decentralized GPU network, processed 404,091 transactions. LucyOS, an operating system for AI agents, handled 367,733 transactions. AskSurf, an intelligent search service, completed 23,076 transactions. The remaining traffic was distributed across dozens of wallets, each averaging about 2,400 transactions.
The milestone positions XRPL as infrastructure for the autonomous agent economy, where programs manage balances directly without human intervention. The launch of the XRPL AI Hub platform by t54 and the XRP Ledger Foundation coincided with the milestone, as the network pushes to attract more developers to build AI-native applications.
Three Protocols Drive 77% of AI Transaction Volume
Heurist Mesh, the largest contributor, operates a decentralized network of GPU power where AI agents automatically rent computing resources from one another to perform model inference. LucyOS functions as a specialized operating system where independent bots trade services and coordinate tasks. AskSurf purchases structured data in real time for intelligent search.
The identical density of payments across the long tail of wallets indicates that developers have moved to pipeline deployment of standard autonomous AI agents, according to the data.
Why XRPL Architecture Fits the Agent Economy
The x402 protocol from t54 has removed humans from the settlement chain entirely, with programs operating balances directly without bank cards. Unlike other blockchains where transaction costs rise unpredictably during peak loads, XRPL offers fixed, extremely low fees, allowing developers to forecast operating costs for AI, according to Vet, a member of the XRP Ledger Foundation.
The network's high settlement speed, global liquidity of XRP, and built-in decentralized exchange for automatic asset conversion provide additional advantages for autonomous commerce, Vet said.
The AI transaction milestone adds to a growing wave of activity on XRPL. The value of tokenized assets on the ledger surged to more than $4 billion from $150 million within a year, according to Coin Bureau, positioning XRPL among the top four global tokenization networks alongside Ethereum and BNB Chain. Separately, Made in USA Inc. acquired a full technology stack built on XRPL to launch a blockchain-powered product verification and supply chain platform, expanding enterprise use beyond payments.
