(Dateline: Abu Dhabi, UAE) – MapleStory Universe, the blockchain extension of Nexon's MapleStory franchise, marked its first anniversary by announcing it has surpassed 150 million cumulative on-chain transactions and will enter its MSU 2.0 phase.
"What began as one of the largest launches in Web3 gaming has developed into a platform built for long-term participation," Sunyoung Hwang, CEO of Nexpace, said. "MSU has evolved beyond a single game into infrastructure for creation, commerce, and participation. That shift defines what it means for an IP to become an economic system."
Since its launch on May 15, 2025, the platform has registered over 3.82 million accounts and accounts for 23.3% of total activity on the Avalanche network, according to a company statement. The initial pre-launch Scroll NFT campaign was the largest NFT mint in Avalanche history with 1.7 million scrolls minted, and the marketplace has averaged 446,716 daily buyers and sellers.
The next phase, MSU 2.0, will roll out between 2026 and 2027, aiming to transform intellectual property into programmable on-chain commerce. The expansion introduces VIBE IP, a tech stack that gives builders API access to gameplay data and establishes an on-chain economy on the Henesys chain, an Avalanche L1. This system is designed to streamline IP licensing and revenue settlement, supported by AI-powered creation tools.
The platform's flagship game, MapleStory N, has driven sustained engagement. A year-end winter update attracted over 130,000 user inflows, with 75 percent being new users, and pushed in-game spending to its highest level since the launch period. The development team plans to accelerate updates in its second year, including the anticipated Black Mage update and a new MVP system to reward dedicated players.
