Law firm Levi & Korsinsky began an investigation into Roblox Corp. concerning potential federal securities law violations, stemming from CEO David Baszucki’s statements on the company's Q4 2025 earnings call.
The investigation centers on Baszucki's assertion that the company's facial-age-estimation rollout had "achieved 45% penetration of global DAUs" and that new safety controls would have only a "temporary" effect on user activity, according to the firm's announcement.
The probe adds to Roblox's legal pressures. In a separate case, an Iowa state judge recently ruled that the company must face consumer fraud claims brought by the state's attorney general. That lawsuit alleges Roblox misled users and parents about the safety of its platform, with the judge affirming that the company's services constitute "merchandise" under Iowa's consumer protection laws.
This new investigation opens Roblox to the risk of a shareholder class-action lawsuit, creating another front of legal and financial uncertainty beyond its battles over platform safety. While some claims in the Iowa case related to content moderation were dismissed under Section 230, the core allegations of deceptive practices will proceed to trial.
The Iowa suit, filed by Attorney General Brenna Bird in December 2025, claimed the platform was a "perfect environment for child predators." The judge's ruling preserved claims that Roblox falsely promised a "safety review of every uploaded image, audio, and video file" and misrepresented content to secure lower age ratings on app stores.
The combination of a shareholder investigation and a state-level consumer fraud trial puts sustained pressure on Roblox's legal and compliance costs. Investors will be closely watching for any filings related to the Levi & Korsinsky probe and further rulings from the Iowa district court.
