KSNET, a South Korean processor handling $4 billion in monthly volume, signed an MOU with the Solana Foundation to bring Solana Pay to 330,000 merchants.
The agreement, announced July 30 in Seoul, covers both online and offline payments, with the two organizations planning to integrate Solana Pay into KSNET's existing point-of-sale and gateway systems, according to the Solana Foundation.
KSNET, operating since December 1999, is one of South Korea's top-four value-added network providers and processes roughly 130 million transactions a month. The MOU also includes a proof of concept using x402, an emerging standard for AI-agent micropayments, letting autonomous software initiate and settle payments without human checkout.
The deal gives Solana access to a mainstream Korean retail base that would be difficult to build from scratch, and positions KSNET to test stablecoin and agentic payments early. Solana settles transactions in about 400 milliseconds at roughly $0.00025 each, making small frequent payments economical at scale.
KSNET is not Solana's only Korean payment partner this year. In June, KG Group signed its own MOU with the Solana Foundation targeting stablecoin settlement across roughly 220,000 merchants tied to KG Inicis. Shinhan Card, one of the country's largest card issuers, earlier agreed to explore stablecoin payments and Web3 infrastructure, while Toss Bank began testing Solana-powered cross-border settlement. KSNET itself partnered with Crypto.com in 2025 to support crypto payments for international visitors.
The x402 component may prove the more significant part of the partnership. The standard, launched this summer, is designed for AI agents to initiate payments directly — booking travel, paying for digital services, or completing online purchases through autonomous software operating under predefined rules. KSNET participated as an institutional partner in Google's and Solana's AI Agentic Hackathon in South Korea.
An MOU is a starting point rather than a finished rollout. KSNET already touches a large share of Korean card commerce daily; if even a fraction of that volume shifts onchain, the numbers grow quickly. For Solana, the prize is real merchant distribution rather than pilot demos. For KSNET, the payoff is an early position in stablecoin and agentic payments. Watch for the first live Solana Pay pilots to confirm the ambition.
