Bittensor's TAO rose to $270, its strongest level since mid-June, as investors positioned ahead of Anthropic's expected stock-market debut later this month.
The AI-lab listing is the sector's primary driver. Anthropic is close to naming Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as lead underwriters, with Barclays and JPMorgan also on the syndicate, and could file its S-1 prospectus as soon as this week, according to a report cited by Invezz. A roadshow would follow before the IPO, penciled in for late September or October.
The news lifted the broader AI-token complex. Near Protocol's NEAR reached $2.4865, its best level since June 16, and Venice Token's VVV climbed to $18.67, up more than 90 percent from its July low. Akash Network's AKT and Artificial Superintelligence Alliance's FET also advanced. The run-up echoes the pattern seen ahead of SpaceX's IPO, when AI tokens rallied into the listing window, the report noted.
The setup mirrors how AI-token baskets tend to front-run traditional listings, with inflows typically peaking into the S-1 and roadshow phase. TAO, up 50 percent from its July low, now faces a test of whether it can hold above $270 as the narrative matures; a delay or disappointing disclosure could unwind the move quickly.
OpenAI's Astra adds a competitive wrinkle
The token gains also track a rotation back into AI equities. Nvidia, Micron, and SanDisk have bounced in recent weeks, joined internationally by SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics. OpenAI, meanwhile, launched Astra, its latest model, which it hopes will challenge Anthropic. GPT-6 Astra carries a 1 million-token context window, in line with Claude, and an AI index of 55, slightly below Anthropic's 57. Its cost per token is $2.57, below Fable 5.1's $6.12. OpenAI delayed its own IPO to engineer a turnaround as revenue growth stalled, the report said.
Venice AI's website traffic rose to 17 million visits in August from 15 million the prior month, and the network incinerated VVV tokens worth more than $700,000. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index sits in greed territory, supporting risk-on demand across digital assets.
The key question is whether the AI-token rally holds once the S-1 lands. If Anthropic's filing confirms the late-September or October timeline, TAO, NEAR, and VVV could extend their multi-week highs; any slip would likely trigger a sharp unwind given how much of the move rests on the listing narrative.
