A single crypto wallet address unloaded 250 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) worth approximately $20.275 million on-chain over a five-hour period, signaling a significant profit-taking event as Bitcoin’s momentum stalls below key resistance levels.
The transactions were flagged by on-chain analysis service Ai 姨, which noted the address 0xB4d…B186a has frequent interactions with blockchain builder Titan. Despite the large sale, the entity remains a major holder, with a portfolio that includes $80.95 million in Ether (ETH) and another $20.88 million in WBTC still on its books.
The sale was executed as WBTC’s price hovered near its upper Bollinger Band resistance around $81,865. The move adds to signs of distribution from large holders, which could cap the market’s upside in the near term. Bitcoin has struggled to hold gains above the $80,000 mark, a level it briefly surpassed before geopolitical and macroeconomic headwinds renewed pressure on risk assets.
This profit-taking could signal a tactical rebalancing or growing caution from a significant market participant. The next key support for WBTC is the 50-period exponential moving average (EMA50) at $80,219, with a deeper floor provided by the 200-period EMA at $76,949. A break below these levels could trigger a broader market correction, while holding above would keep the bullish structure intact.
The move comes amid a choppy market environment. Bitcoin fell below $80,000 to trade at $79,200 earlier after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s warnings to the U.S. over Taiwan rattled Asian markets, according to a CoinDesk report. Higher-than-expected U.S. inflation data also complicated the Federal Reserve's path toward potential rate cuts, removing a key tailwind for crypto assets.
While Bitcoin consolidates, some altcoins have shown strength. Toncoin (TON) has surged nearly 100% in recent days, though some analysts see it as a potential short opportunity if Bitcoin weakens. Other major altcoins like Cardano (ADA) and XRP have yet to experience a significant breakout, suggesting capital could rotate into these lagging assets if the market recovery continues.
