XRP cleared short-term resistance and targets $1.70 as US spot ETFs post their strongest weekly inflows of 2026.

XRP cleared short-term resistance, targeting $1.70, as US spot ETFs drew $110.49 million in weekly inflows, the strongest of 2026.
"Breakout confirmed — XRP has cleared resistance, with $1.70 the next target," Ali Martinez, crypto analyst, said on X.
XRP rose 71.8% from $0.988 to $1.698 before correcting about 20%. Support between $1.35 and $1.38 holds roughly 3.2 billion XRP, per on-chain cost distribution data. Resistance sits at $1.60 and $1.68, with $1.86 a more substantial barrier holding about 3.47 billion XRP. A decisive break above $1.86 could open a path toward $2.19.
The ETF inflows pushed cumulative net inflows to about $1.66 billion and combined net assets to $1.44 billion, while weekly trading volume climbed to $363.03 million, its highest since the funds launched. XRP remains under pressure on longer timeframes, down about 7% over the past week as of 09:00 UTC, as investors rotate toward Bitcoin. CoinMarketCap's Altcoin Season Index fell 7.69% to 24, placing the market in "Bitcoin Season," with Bitcoin dominance at 59.73%. Holding $1.35 could support a recovery toward $1.45-$1.50 before the $1.70 target returns to view.
The $110.49 million in net inflows during the week ending Aug. 28 more than doubled the prior 2026 weekly high of about $60.5 million set in May, though it remained below the all-time weekly record of $243.95 million from November 2025. On Aug. 28 alone, the funds attracted $26.2 million despite weakness in the wider crypto market. Bitwise's XRP ETF remains the largest, with cumulative net inflows topping $600 million, while Franklin's XRPZ drew $462.86 million.
Despite the short-term breakout, XRP underperformed Bitcoin as investors rotated away from altcoins after hawkish signals from Federal Reserve officials. CoinMarketCap identified rotation as the primary reason for XRP's weakness, alongside technical consolidation and profit-taking after the 71.8% rally. The platform described XRP's immediate outlook as neutral to bearish, with the next move depending on whether buyers defend $1.35.
Traders are also watching Sept. 15, 2026, when the US Senate is scheduled to vote on the CLARITY Act, a bill that could set clearer rules for digital assets and affect XRP's market outlook.
The record ETF inflows signal sustained institutional demand for XRP even as spot price lags, a divergence that could support the token if the $1.35 support holds. A break above $1.86 would put $2.19 in play, while a decisive loss of $1.35 could send XRP toward $1.20.
