Baidu reported Q2 2026 results Tuesday, with AI-powered business now its core growth driver after Q1 AI revenue rose 49 percent to RMB13.6 billion.
"With AI-powered Business now firmly established as the core of Baidu, we are strengthening the foundations for our next phase of AI-driven growth," the company said in its earnings release.
AI Cloud infrastructure revenue jumped 79 percent to RMB8.8 billion in Q1, while AI-native marketing rose 36 percent to RMB2.3 billion, cushioning a 29 percent drop in legacy business to RMB10.2 billion. Analysts expect Q2 revenue of RMB32.47 billion, up 1.2 percent sequentially, with adjusted EPS per ADS of RMB11.19.
Baidu shares closed Monday at $103.49, with options implying a 5.8 percent swing on the release. The stock sits 37.4 percent below its 52-week high of $165.30, while analysts hold a Buy consensus with an average target of $167.15, ranging from $124 at Barclays to $205 at JPMorgan.
The earnings test comes as Baidu's AI models gain international distribution. Reuters found Baidu models on WorldClaw, a Hong Kong-based platform listing 90 models, 43 from Chinese developers including Baidu and Alibaba. The platform says it serves more than 10,000 users and completes over 50 million tasks daily.
The U.S. Defense Department has classified Baidu as linked to the Chinese military, barring Pentagon business with the firm. Baidu has challenged the classification.
AI-powered business made up 52 percent of Baidu's General Business revenue in Q1, the first time it crossed half. AI Applications revenue was flat at RMB2.5 billion, showing monetization remains a work in progress.
The results will test whether Baidu can sustain its AI pivot as it competes with cheaper open models from Alibaba and other Chinese developers. Investors will watch the earnings call for updated segment margins and AI Cloud growth guidance, which will determine if the stock can close the gap to its $167.15 average analyst target.
